Escape from Concrete Jungle
Starting from the bustling city of Hong Kong, I embarked on a journey to an unfamiliar city, Surabaya in Indonesia, hitherto unvisited by myself. Under the theme of “Escape from the Concrete Jungle”, I documented my experience in Surabaya through a publication. The series comprises of a book case and two volumes, symbolizing my departure from the concrete jungle, my work as a designer in Indonesia, and my life in a foreign country vastly different from my homeland.
Task
The main purpose of this publication is to chronicle my experiences as an intern designer, as well as my learning process as a student of design through the internship. Each segment includes different projects, concept development, workflow, and the final outcome. Furthermore, the content incorporates observations and reflections on the differences in culture between the design studio and design school during the internship period.
